Each year, the third Thursday of November observes the great American Smokeout, sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The society hopes that this will raise the awareness of smokers of the many benefits to be gained by quitting smoking--not just on this one day, but at any time.

Each year, 390,000 American die from the effects of smoking.
Cigarette smokers have more than twice the risk of heart attack.
Cigarette smokers have two to four times the chance of cardiac arrest.
Giving up smoking rapidly reduces the risk of heart disease. After a number of years, the risk of heart disease diminishes to the same level as a person who has never smoked.
A pregnant woman who smokes increases her baby's chances of infant crib death.
If you smoke, quit. And if you don't smoke, don't start. And remember, avoid long-term exposure to smoke and protect children from it.

It sickens me that the very politicians that swear to serve our needs take money from an industry that sells a product that when used correctly leads to death and diseases. Makes you wonder how we could be against the KKK or the Nazis? Their beliefs led to the deaths of innocent people yet those very people were convinced they were right too? Where is our humanity? Where is our faith? I'm appalled.
While we sit here and do our best to take down the industry they spend countless millions and billions developing a market for their poison over seas? Who the fuck is watching the scales of right and wrong in this country?
Who ever said the human race was superior to animals never tried to justify selling poison to their fellow humans and smile while doing it. Lets hear it for every crappy little market, gas station and party store across this nation. They are on the front lines of death.
