Niecie, born Denise Wickersham, was born and raised in Motown. Needless to say soul runs through her veins. Niecie sang lead and backup in various Detroit soul and R&B bands ranging in styles of the like of Angela Bofill, Miki Howard, Lisa Stanfield and Phylis Hyman, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight and of course Motown . Let us not forget that Niecie can rock it!!!! She rocked with bands to the tunes of Bad Company, one of her major influences and her fav, Humble Pie, Kiss, Frampton, Reo Speedwagon, Guess Who, Grand Funk Railroad and others. With that booming voice, Niecie found herself involved in roles in musical theater in various theater companies in the Detroit area. Niecie's got rhythm too! Dancing since a tot she went on to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts studying jazz dance.
When you see Niecie live, she is compared to KoKo Taylor with the flavor of Janis Joplin. Her thunderous vocals mirror that of Etta James and Big Mama Thorton. Niecie's grit and growl can also remind you of Bonnie Raitt. Her soulful undertones are compared to the nostalgic Ann Peebles. With a blend of all remarkable vocal styles, Niecie gave birth to her debut CD "Peace Of My Mind"!!!!
